Located at 4065 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224, Penn Ave Pizza & Steaks (PAPS) operates as a pizza restaurant serving Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In Pittsburgh, the busiest hours are Friday and Saturday evenings and any night with a big game, when quoted delivery times can stretch past an hour; ordering before 5 p.m. or picking up yourself avoids the wait. Delivery radiuses are small, often two to five miles, and a minimum order plus a delivery fee is normal, with a tip of a few dollars for the driver on top. Lunch specials such as two slices and a drink, or a personal pie, are the cheapest way to eat at most shops across Pennsylvania on weekdays. Toppings are priced per item and half-and-half pies are usually free to request. Gluten-free crusts and vegan cheese are increasingly common but often cost a few dollars extra, and cross-contact in a shared oven is standard unless the shop says otherwise.
Hours are published for 2 days a week. The most common schedule is 11 AM–9 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (412) 815-4468. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is eatpaps.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 238 reviews, which is a strong result for a pizza restaurant in Pittsburgh and suggests consistent service.
Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Absolutely top-notch experience at Penn Avenue Pizza & Steaks! The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. We ordered a pizza half sausage and half black olives, and it was perfection — a true New York-style slice with great flavor and texture. But the cheesesteak was bonkers. Seriously next level. In a league of its own — perfectly made, incredibly flavorful, and easily a standout from the rest of the crowd. Do yourself a favor and get it exactly how it comes the first time before venturing from there. The original way is nothing short of perfection. The house-made meatballs were another great surprise and a nice treat. Everything was finished with fresh basil and grated Parmesan, which really took it up another notch. You can tell there’s a lot of care put into the food here. We’re already looking forward to going back to try the Italian sub and working our way through some different pizza toppings...and of course another cheesesteak. Great people serving seriously great food. We left impressed and already talking about what we’re ordering next time. A+ all around!

Been hearing great things about the pizza and cheese steaks. Tough to find parking, short walk from Children's Hospital. The pizza was cooked properly with a good undercarriage. The crust was a little dense and flavorless for being a 2 day fermented dough. Cup and crisp pepperoni didn't have a lot of flavor. The sauce was pretty basic but good. I wasn't a fan of the cheese blend, couldn't quite figure out what it was. The cheese was mostly yellow and had a creamy texture verses a mozzarella cheese pull. The pizza was above average but definitely needs some tweeks. It's worth trying if you are in the area. The second thing we tried was the cheese steak. It was a little skimpy on the steak but the overall flavor was good with the correct ratios of onions and cheese. The seeded roll was good but didn't have the correct crispy exterior and chew. Overall the roll was just to soft. Definitely above average and worth trying if you are in the area.

Visited Penn Ave pizza over the weekend and they didn’t miss a beat! The cheesesteak was phenomenal! Best I’ve had in the city and would give some places in philly a run for their money! The sesame roll tops it off! $18 is a little steep, but it definitely is a killer sandwich! The pizza was excellent! Classic New York with zero flop and a crunch you won’t forget! Love how they add the basil, fresh parm, and olive oil before it is served! I can assure you this is a 5 star pizza joint and is going to quickly rise to one of the best, if not, the best in the city! The owner Chris was very nice and everyone on the team was friendly and helpful! They also carry turners tea, a true pittsburgh staple! Tons of seating including booths, tables, and bar seating! 100% will return and highly recommend!

Holy moly! A must try 10/10. Amazing service and even better food! Best cheesesteak I’ve ever had & their pizza is perfect. You can really taste the love & effort that has gone into their menu. Everything is made-to-order on their homemade dough & bread. Highly recommend!

Had a business lunch at a new spot in Bloomfield called Penn Ave Pizza and Steaks and oh man was this amazing. You need to get here! First the cheesesteak, they spent 10 months on the recipe, figuring the bread out which is fresh baked seeded rolls that they have a nice solid crunch to them. If I was comparing them to Common Oven I would say common oven has a bit more chew to them, so I think I would ask for this to be wrapped next time and let it steam in it to give it a bit more chew. It’s definitely more true to Philly style tho, I would say how it’s filled and how it was done is closer to Angelo’s/uncle Gus’ in Philly. This is definitely a tight competition for common oven and I wouldn’t be able to pick honestly. Let’s talk pizza. I’m going to say it, this is almost as good as Rockaway, and I didn’t even get a fresh pie, I got a slice, which I never judge a pie on but holy crap. It came out no flop, crispy, crunchy and full of flavor. The char was perfect, the crust is airy and crunchy, the cheese and sauce was perfect ratio for me, and the flavor definitely a step above. I got a whole cheese pie to bring home to my wife to have for dinner but I need to get back here asap! D
